Belter

A better app for the treadmill in your hallway.

In testing

What it is

Most treadmills come with an app. Most of those apps want an account, an email address and a subscription before they will tell you how far you walked.

Belter connects to the machine over Bluetooth, shows you the numbers, and keeps your walks on your phone. That is the whole idea.

What it does

Built for a machine a family shares

Everyone gets a profile

One tap to switch. Separate history, separate totals, and nobody’s walk filed under somebody else by accident.

Programmes that run themselves

Set the intervals once and Belter changes the speed and incline on schedule, one careful step at a time.

Your whole history

Every walk, never trimmed. Weekly and monthly totals, and a trace of each session second by second.

Export, always

A CSV of one walk or all of them, whenever you like. Your data is not a feature we sell back to you.

Race yourself

Pick a walk you have already done and chase it. The gap is in seconds, because that is a thing you can feel.

Stop is the biggest thing on screen

Always visible, always reachable, on every screen, whatever else you are looking at.

The bits most apps put in the small print

Worth saying out loud

It is not a safety system

The safety key and the treadmill’s own stop button are what actually stop the belt. Bluetooth drops and phones freeze. Belter watches for it and tries to stop the belt, but it cannot promise to, and it will never pretend otherwise.

Everything stays on your phone

No servers, no accounts, no analytics. Your workouts are never sent to us, because there is no us for them to be sent to. Deleting the app deletes the lot.

One payment, if you want it

Belter is free with one profile, and free forever for connecting, programmes, history, charts and export. Belter Everything is a single purchase that adds profiles for the rest of the household and unlocks the rest. One payment, no subscription, and no second tier later.

Compatibility

DeerRun X20, and machines that speak the same protocol

Belter was built and verified against a DeerRun X20 over its own Bluetooth protocol, with every command checked against the real machine rather than against a specification. Other PitPat-compatible treadmills may work; none of them have been tested yet.

Belter is an independent app. It is not made by or endorsed by DeerRun, PitPat, or any treadmill manufacturer, and none of them has any say in what it does. Always follow the safety instructions that came with your machine.
