The short version
Belter keeps everything on your phone. We have no servers, no accounts and no analytics. We never see your workouts, your name, your weight, any photo you add, or anything else you put into the app.
What Belter stores, and where
Profiles you create, including the name, weight and optional height you enter, and every workout you record, including speed, incline, distance and time. All of it is written to a database inside the app on your device.
None of it is transmitted anywhere. It is not backed up to us because there is no us to back it up to.
Photos
You can put a photo on a profile. If you do, Belter asks iOS for permission to open your photo library, and copies the one you choose into the app’s own storage on your device.
It is used for nothing but showing you who is who. It is never uploaded, never sent anywhere, and no other photo in your library is read. Removing the photo from the profile deletes the copy.
Bluetooth
Belter uses Bluetooth to talk to your treadmill and nothing else. It does not scan for or record other devices, and it does not use Bluetooth for location.
Purchases
Belter Everything is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells the app whether the purchase was made. We never see your payment details, and we do not receive your name or email address.
Our website
Everything above is about the app. Our website, belter-app.com, is separate, and it is a plain one: no cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no scripts at all. It does not know you visited.
It does carry links to treadmill shops, and some of those are affiliate links that pay us a commission if you buy. Following one takes you to the retailer’s affiliate network, which will set its own cookie on its own site to record that you arrived from us. That happens after you have left our site and is their doing rather than ours, so it is covered by their privacy policy, not this one. Nothing is set on your device unless you click.
We never learn who you are from any of this. We are told how many sales came from the links, not who made them.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app deletes everything it stored. You can also export your workouts to a CSV file first, free of charge, whether or not you have bought anything.
Children
Belter is designed for a household, and a family member’s profile may well be a child’s. Nothing entered into the app leaves the device, so nothing about a child is collected by us either.
Changes
If this ever changes, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy information before the change ships, not after.
