Before anything else

Belter is not a safety system. The safety key and your treadmill’s own stop button are what actually stop the belt. Always wear the safety key clip, and never leave a connected treadmill running unattended.

If the belt is doing something you did not ask it to, pull the safety key. Do not reach for the phone first.

The app is connected, but the treadmill ignores speed commands

This is the most common one, and it is the machine rather than the app. Some treadmills refuse remote motion commands until they have been started once at their own console since being switched on.

Press start on the treadmill itself, let the belt move, then use Belter. Incline usually works either way. When Belter detects this it says so on the live screen rather than leaving you guessing.

It cannot find my treadmill

Check, in this order: the treadmill is switched on at the wall; Bluetooth is on and Belter has permission in iOS Settings; you are standing next to the machine.

Then the one people miss: close the manufacturer’s own app. These treadmills accept one Bluetooth connection at a time, so if PitPat is open and connected, Belter cannot get in. Force-quit it and try again.

Keep the manufacturer’s app installed even if you never use it. Some firmware activation and update steps only happen there.

I got a loud warning that the connection dropped

Belter watches for the treadmill going quiet during a session. If nothing arrives for a few seconds it immediately tries to stop the belt and shows that warning.

It cannot promise to succeed, which is exactly why the warning is loud. If the belt is still moving, stop it at the machine.

Which treadmills work?

Belter was built and verified against a DeerRun X20, over its own Bluetooth protocol, with every command checked against the real machine. Other PitPat-compatible treadmills may work, but none have been tested.

If you try it with something else, tell us what happened. Both answers are useful.

I paid for Belter Everything and it is not unlocked

Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases. That covers a new phone, a reinstall, and a purchase that has just gone through.

If somebody else in your household bought it, make sure Family Sharing is switched on for their purchase, then tap Restore. The Apple ID that paid does not have to be the one on this phone.

If the App Store cannot be reached, Belter keeps working with what you already had. It will not take profiles away because a network call failed.

How do I get my workouts out?

History, then Export everything, for a CSV of every walk. Or open a single walk and export just that one, second by second.

Export is free and always will be, whether or not you have bought anything. It is your data.

How do I delete everything?

Delete the app. Everything Belter stored goes with it, because all of it was on your phone and none of it was anywhere else. Export first if you want to keep it.

I cannot get past the first screen

The safety information has to be scrolled to the end before the button will work. That is deliberate: it is a motorised treadmill and the warning is worth reading.

Something else

Email hello@belter-app.com. Tell us which treadmill you have, what you did and what happened. If it is a bug, the more boring the detail the better.
